My approach to photography is rooted in long-term, immersive projects that explore the places and people I know intimately. Growing up in Northumberland has given me a deep connection to the landscapes, communities, and subtle rhythms of life in the region, and this informs the work I create. I focus on capturing both the character of the people who inhabit these spaces and the textures, moods, and stories of the places themselves. While my projects are deeply local, they often resonate more widely, offering reflections on contemporary British life and society as a whole.
By observing the intersections of tradition, change, and daily experience, my work can serve as a subtle social commentary, inviting viewers to consider how local histories and lives reflect broader cultural dynamics. A recent project, Living Quarters, exemplifies this approach: documenting the intimate, lived-in spaces of communities, it was recently published in Humanity magazine, a platform dedicated to social documentary photography, which allowed the work to reach an audience engaged with contemporary documentary practices. Through this and other projects, I aim to create imagery that is both personal and socially resonant, connecting the specific textures of Northumberland with wider narratives of modern Britain.
