Lewis Jackson’s work explores local connections, kinship and community, examining the relationship between people and place through the vernacular details and subtleties of everyday life.

 

Having grown up in Northumberland, Jackson’s practice is rooted in a personal connection to the places he photographs. Photography offers a means of exploration and discovery, allowing him to consider how familiar environments shape our sense of belonging and identity. His work acknowledges the personal associations and memories attached to these places, while recognising how their stark, unvarnished reality can resonate beyond individual experience, revealing something of the wider social and cultural landscape.

 

Working within the realism of documentary photography, Jackson develops his practice through sustained observation and a long-term commitment to collecting and collating images.
