Artifice city is a large scale installation that invites viewers to interact with a combination of line, space, pattern and shape. It is a series of square cropped buildings of Chicago with intentionally high contrast black and white editing. It is an attempt to represent the abstract concrete forms of a city that is not specific to a location. Repetition and contrast produce a range of patterns and forms. The bold geometric outlines of the buildings create curved and geometric shapes that combine to create illusionary spaces. Each viewer’s arrangement is different; each viewer’s arrangement is coincidentally similar.
